A: Take a look at the schematics below showing how the two Razer Chimaera headsets connect. Note: Both versions of the Razer Chimaera connect to either the original Xbox 360 or Xbox 360 Slim as well as the PC.
1. Connecting the Razer Chimaera 5.1 to the original Xbox 360 or the Xbox 360 Slim using an optical cable:
If you have a new Xbox 360 Slim and you want to use it with the Razer Chimaera 5.1 you don't need any additional cables or other accessories to connect the headset to your console. This will be true even if you connect your Xbox 360 Slim to your TV through HDMI. The new Xbox 360 Slim has the necessary "Toslink Optical Output" built right into its back panel.
2. Connecting the Razer Chimaera 5.1 to the original Xbox 360 or the Xbox 360 Slim using an RCA to RCA cable:
3. Connecting the Razer Chimaera 5.1 to the PC using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable and an RCA to 3.5mm cable*:*RCA to 3.5mm cable is an additional accessory sold separately.
1. Connecting the Razer Chimaera and RCA to 3.5mm cable:
2. Connecting the Razer Chimaera to the original Xbox 360 or the Xbox 360 Slim using HDMI:
If you have an older (May, 2010 or earlier) Xbox 360 model (grey and white, Elite) and want to connect your Razer Chimaera while using an HDMI cable you need to follow the instructions below:
Older Xbox 360 units came with a "composite AV" cable, with the red/white analog RCA plugs for audio and a yellow RCA plug for composite video. If this is the case with your Xbox 360 setup, you'll need to obtain the Xbox 360 HDMI Audio Adapter (pictured below) to use your Razer Chimaera with your HDMI-compatible TV.

Since with the newer Xbox 360 units the "Xbox HDMI Audio Adapter" is no longer needed, it has been discontinued, but you can still find it from a number of vendors, for example Amazon:
If your TV doesn't have the necessary AUDIO OUT jacks or optical audio out port to connect your TV to your Razer Chimaera, then you need to obtain the HDMI Audio Cable.
If you have the Xbox 360 Component HD A/V Cable, your HDMI port will be blocked (pre-2010):

If you want HD video from your Xbox 360 to play on your High-Definition TV, you need both a standard HDMI cable and the Xbox 360 HDMI Audio Cable.
3. Connecting the Razer Chimaera to the PC using 3.5mm to 3.5mm cables*:
*3.5mm to 3.5mm cables are additional accessories purchased separately.
A: To pair the two, simply hold the 'Sync' buttons on both the base station and headset simultaneously for a few seconds. You should hear a beeping sound to confirm the units have paired. By the way, you can pair up to four headsets to one base station for awesome chatter with pals.
A: Each receiver has a unique internal signature that identifies to a specific headset. No two receivers have the same signature, so if you had two or more headsets in the same room, they can operate independently of one another with no interference. The process of 'syncing' the headset to the base station establishes a fixed link between them, so the receiver's signature will be locked to that particular base station and will ignore signals from any other base station that's within range. This prevents the headset from being confused if it senses a wireless signal from a different transmitter.
A: Yes, just connect the RCA to RCA cable that comes with the Razer Chimaera 5.1, or purchase a 3.5mm to RCA cable to connect to a multitude of audio sources including the PC.
A: If you have both optical cable and the RCA to RCA cable connected to the base station, press the Source' button on the base station to switch between the two input signals.
A: This feature lets users connect 2-4 Razer Chimaera 5.1 base stations directly to each other via a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to form a private voice chat and is mostly used at offline tournaments to create a team communication channel that is clear, stable and private (not going though the Xbox LIVE network).
The primary setup for the Razer Chimaera 5.1 is to use the supplied optical cable to connect the Xbox to the Chimaera 5.1 base station and an HDMI cable to connect the Xbox to the TV. With this setup the Local team communications feature does NOT work. The feature can be used if the Chimaera 5.1 is connected via the supplied RCA to RCA cable. However some of you are attending tournaments where monitors are used so here is a way to still use an HDMI cable for best image quality and connect the Razer Chimaera 5.1 via RCA:
The adapter shown below needs to be purchased separately. This adapter will allow you to connect an HDMI cable and connect the Razer Chimaera 5.1 with the RCA to RCA cable (white and red ports).
The adaptor can be purchased at ebay for example: http://cgi.ebay.com/Optical-Audio-Adapter-cable-Audio-XBOX-360-HDMI-AV-/200529080684?pt=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item2eb076f16c
A: One optical connector is input, to receive game audio from your Xbox 360 console or home theater system. The other connector is for output, in the event you want to place your Razer Chimaera 5.1 base station between your console and home theatre system.
Whatever audio comes in the Optical-In jack is sent out the Optical-Out jack like an audio pass-through when the Razer Chimaera 5.1 is turned on.
A: Both Razer Chimaera headsets are fully compatible with the PC. You'll need an extra RCA to 3.5mm cable (sold separately) to connect the Chimaera 5.1 to the PC. To connect the Razer Chimaera Standard you'll need two extra 3.5mm to 3.5mm cables (also sold separately).
A. Please purchase two 3.5mm to 3.5mm cables to connect the audio and mic to your PC.
A. There are two ways of connecting your Razer Chimaera 5.1. You can either purchase a RCA to 3.5mm cable and connect the audio to your audio out (green) port of your PC and use the provided 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to connect to your mic (pink) port on your PC for full functionality; Or you can connect the provided optical cable to an optical port on your PC for audio. Note that the mic is not supported via the optical cable connection method.
A: Yes! You can connect the Razer Chimaera 5.1 with the optical cable to a PC. However, this method will not support the microphone on the Razer Chimaera 5.1 and will only support audio playback.
A: The Razer Chimaera headsets are built primarily for Xbox 360 ownage. While the audio signal of the PS3 can be picked up by the Razer Chimaera, the voice communication only works on the Xbox 360 or the PC.
A: Yes, you can connect an MP3 player in the same way you can connect a PC to your Razer Chimaera.
